What should I wear?We recommend dressing in warm layers and have raingear avaliable should you need it. For Heli Biking we recommend active wear and sports shoes. For Alaskan Picnic or Pilot's Choice, you will be outside for up to 1 hour and should dress appropriately dependent on the weather that day, there are also blankets avaliable around the campfireat the beach. Closed toed shoes are required for all tours. There are lockers avaliable should you not need everything you bring.

What gear is provided?Heli Bike: We provide Helly Hansen professional rain gear in a variety of sizes (XS-XXL), helmets in variety of sizes (S-XL), Trek Mountain Bikes (Roscoe 6) in frame sizes from 13.5 to 23, and a branded keepsake water bottle. Have a Go Pro? We have helmets available with mounts. Other Tours: Helly Hansen professional rain gear in a variety of sizes (XS-XXL)

What should I bring?We recommend that you bring appropriate clothing for the elements, sunglasses in case of glare, and most importantly your camera/phone with a smile. Heli Bike: Guests often bring riding gloves and glasses. If you bring a DSLR type camera, a harness or strap that can be worn tightly around your person is recommended as our no baggage policy includes camera bags and you will be biking with your camera on your person.

What am I allowed to bring?Icy Strait Aviation has a strict no baggage policy as mandated by the FAA. This includes but not is limited to camera bags, diaper bags, purses, fanny packs, back packs, etc. All hazardous materials are also prohibited around our aircraft, if you cannot bring it on a commercial airliner, we ask that you do not bring it with you on tour. All belongings must be kept on your person which means personal effects must either fit in a jacket pocket or be on a strap around your neck. We provide complimentary lockers to store any extra belongings. You are more than welcome to bring cameras, binoculars, phones, etc, but cases must stay behind, and items cannot impede your ability to enter and exit the helicopter safely.

Where do I check in?If you are arriving via cruise ship at Icy Strait Point please check in at the tour desk at your arrival dock unless otherwise instructed. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your tour departure time to allow time to fill out waivers and have your weight taken.

Will I make it back to my ship in time?Yes, all tours arrive back at Icy Strait Point at least 30 minutes prior to your ship's "All Aboard" time.

Do I get to chose my seat?Our tour helicopters have a 2 front seat, 4 back seat configuration and seating is assigned based on weight and balance restrictions and safety considerations. Due to these restrictions we cannot guarantee seat assignments but do our best to keep parties traveling together seated next to each other. If you would like to guarantee a seat assignment, we recommend booking a private tour or charter experience.

Are there weight restrictions?Heli Bike has a weight restriction of 300 lbs. due to bike limitations. Worlds Largest ZipRider by Helicopter has a minimum weight of 75 lbs. and a maxmium weight of 275 lbs. due to ZipRider limitations. All Tours: Due to helicopter weight and balance limitations, as well as passenger safety and comfort, guests weighing 250 lbs. or more (fully clothed) will be assessed a weight surcharge to reserve adequate space onboard the helicopter. Our goal is to accommodate all guests and their parties, and we will ask for number the of guests in your party above the surcharge weight to guarantee the best experience for your group. Failure to disclose weights above 250 lbs. may result in splitting of parties traveling together or loss of reservation.

Are there age restrictions?Due to the nature of our tours and time spent in the Alaska wilderness, the following age or physical restrictions apply to our tours. Heli Bike: Maximum weight: 300 lbs.; Minimum Height: 4'10"; Maximum Height: 6'7" Alaskan Picnic by Helicopter: minimum age is 5 Pilot's Choice: Minimum age is 5 World's Largest Ziprider by Helicopter: Minimum age is 5; Minimum weight is 75 lbs.; maximum weight is 275 lbs.; Minimum height is 4’4″; maximum height is 6’8″

What is your cancelation policy?All cancelations made at least 7 business days before departure are fully refundable. Cancelation made within 7 days of departure are refundable at 50% and cancelations made less than 48 hours before departure are nonrefundable. Full payment is due at time of booking. Weather Policy: In the event of a weather delay or cancelation we will do our absolute best to reschedule your experience for a time that works with your schedule. If we have to cancel your flight and cannot reschedule, you will receive a full refund.

What is the best time of day to fly?We have a saying in Alaska - "If you don't like the weather right now, just wait 5 minutes" Alaska weather changes frequently but no matter the conditions, the state is always beautiful. We suggest scheduling your tour at a time that leaves you with a bit of flexibility. In the event that we feel the conditions are not conducive to flying, we will do our best to reschedule you later in the day if and when the weather clears.

Will I see wildlife?Alaska is the known as the Last Frontier and the Tongass National Forest is home to variety of animal species only found in Alaska! While it is very common to see Coastal Brown Bears, Bald Eagles and Sitka Black Tail Deer on our tours, Icy Strait Aviation strictly complies with the flightseeing and wildlife viewing practices recommended by U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service and Alaska Fish & Game to limit our impact on the environment around us.
